SALALAH: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO), in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has opened an exhibition showcasing Omani paper and metal currencies at the Land of Frankincense Museum in Dhofar Governorate.
The exhibition, which will run until September 3, highlights the rich monetary heritage of Oman and traces the evolution of the national currency through different historical periods, from early forms of currency to the modern Omani Rial.
The exhibition features a collection of rare and historic paper and metal currencies, along with information panels highlighting key milestones in the development of Oman’s monetary system. A visual display section also presents the history of currency issuance and showcases the artistic and security features of various currency editions.
The exhibition provides visitors with an opportunity to explore Oman’s monetary journey and understand the role of currency in supporting the country’s economic and developmental progress over the decades.
Organised as part of the CBO’s efforts to preserve national monetary heritage and raise public awareness, the exhibition offers residents and visitors to Dhofar an interactive experience highlighting the history and evolution of Omani currency. — ONA
